I have a classic with qwik releases so I can remove the tour trunk and slipon a sissy bar. I also use a Motherwell qwik realease lugage rack that has to pin mounts behind my layback plate and fastens to the fender seat bolt. The fender supports all the weight. However, 10 lb is standard disclaimer. Passenger seat states max allowable limit 110 lbs.

I have an 03 Road King. What does the passenger backrest cost? I have some hardware from a luggage rack that goes in place of the passenger seat but I'm not sure if its the same or not as what would be needed. Any advice would be great. This is my first harley and I'm still learning.

Thanks,
Jason

Jason,
I purchased all my stuff from zanotti's and I paid the following plus shipping. The more you buy the better the shipping and handing gets.

Oval Backrest p/n 52889-98B $77.90
Low Backrest kit (Sissy Bar) p/n 52933-97B $115.94
Docking Hardware p/n 53803-06 $ 32.86

I'm not sure whether your "hardware from the luggage rack" will work for the detachable passenger backrest. You can go to the 2006 Harley wish book and check on page 401 and there you will find a chart that shows the docking hardware fitment matrix.

Hope this helps.
