My big radius will be here tomorrow, so I dropped the slipons and factory headpipes today. I cannot get the exhaust gaskets out.....any tricks or tips?
I was told they didn't come with the vance and hines, but even if they did, the HD gaskets were better, and I wasn't told that by an HD employee. I haven't gotten the pipes yet, but I should be installing them today. Your dealership should have the gaskets in stock and they aren't expensive. I think it came to $13 and some change for both......also, during my research on removing and installing the gaskets, I found out something that I wouldn't have just known. The regular HD gaskets are slightly tapered, the thinner end of the taper should be facing the pipes when you install them into the head...

The stock gaskets are very good and as noted cheap. A awl or relitively sharp screwdriver can easily pry out the old gasket. Just make sure the gasket material is completely out of the exhaust port and the header pipe flange is smooth and clean.
