Default Need Advice on 2010 Street Glide Exhaust

Hey guess what..... I bid and won a set of screaming eagle slipons for my Glide and went out to check out my bike and realized I have a 2:1 exhaust....the harley part no is: 64924-99. Can anyone please tell me if I can just use one of these and save the other or something? I have to buy them and I can always re-list them, but I'd really like to use them. They don't make this style anymore and it rocks. I'm also curious about getting a set of true duals, after the first question if anyone can give me some insight into type and cost etc that would be so helpful.

thanks and look forward to hearing back!!

Steven

I would recommend the true duals. The '10 have the cats in the headpipes and not the muffler. So to get rid of the restrictions u have to change the headers or possibly a set of '09 cast off OEM headers. Mechanic I know said they really are that good. Happy hunting.

Iceman, you mean the mechanic said that the 09 headers were that good, so would that mean I would have the 2 mufflers instead of the 2:1? Also for the sake of my ignorance what does it mean to have true duals? I'm sorry, but I guess I thought the headers on the 09 had the crossover deal and weren't true duals. Anyhow if you can make sense out of my response and query's please get me back.

Thanks all for the replies, keep em comin

The '09, like mine, are a 2:1:2 set up. The headers came out of the separate cylinders, came together (on the right side under your butt), then split again to give the duals look. A true dual would be if it came strait out of the cylinder and strait to the muffler. They did this to decrease the heat from under the legs of rider and passenger, plus the set-up will also give you a little better power set-up. I'm sure you have read the 2:1 set-up is the best for pure power.

I would call a dealer and ask if the change over would be that simple. I'm sure there would be some extra hardware to buy since the '10 are a 2:1 and don't have the brackets for the mufflers on the left saddle bag supports. Considering the '10 just came out aftermarket may be out of the question for the time being. If all things are still the same, you best bet would be to find someone that has changed over to a 2:1 from the stock OEM. That way you could get their old hardware as well as the head pipes. Just my .02.
