Unhappy troubles with Mobile 1 syn. oil

anyone have any excessive lifter noise while using Mobile 1 v-twin 20-50 oil.
I have an 08 Road king, at around 25,000 mi. started having lifter noise. took to h-d dealership and they replaced 1 lifter, still have the noise. i've been using mobile 1 since
18,500 mi. now have 34500 mi. switched back to dino oil h-d 20-50 still have the noise. just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and what can i do to fix it. the noise is only noticible upon cold start up and continues till i get a mile or two down the road then quietns down. any advise would be appreciated.

i forgot to ask, is this a direct result of using mobile 1 oil or just normal wear on my lifters? i would think that lifters would last longer than 25,000 to 35,000 mi.

Just about all the twin cam Harleys have a lifter noise, so I'm not sure your failed lifter was caused by synthetic oil. I have heard 20w60 oil will calm the noise, but I can't find it around here to try it in our hot Oklahoma heat.

Yes they should last a lot longer...I have 35K on mine and like I said no problems here...What year is your bike? Like Beary said tho...valve train noise is common on the HD's

I know that harleys have valve train noise, mine has gotten excessively worse. i bought the bike new in 08 now have 34,500 mi. on it. believe me, when i start it cold, it has a loud tapping sound that it has never had and will do it till it is driven for a mile or two.

m1 is good oil. i would say that your problem is probably not a result of what oil you are running. you'd probably still have it even if you were using that liquid gold, amsoil.

I think your problem is with the lifters themselves rather than the oil. Lot's of crappy lifters out there. I know of two 09s that have the same noisy lifters and dealer won't fix them.
