Just traded my '03 Ultra for a new "09 and there is a huge difference in handling. Also, do not feel like I am on a paint shaker when I stop. I don't see much difference at all between the '09 and '10.

Go to another dealer and ride one. If the difference is noticable to you try to make a deal on an 09. No reason you should not be able to find a deal with $2k off msrp. The difference between the 09 and 10 is not worth losing that $2k.

BTW the only thing I have found wrong with the new frame is it is wider in the basket area making it harder to flat foot or find a seat that lowers me enough to compensate for the added width.

+1 on this advice. The big changes came in 09.

As far as the 2009 / 2010 comparison goes, there is really no difference other than the helical cut 5th gear and some color changes.

Plus, all 2010 touring bikes have the Cat in the headpipes and according to Jamie at Fuel Moto new 02 sensors are not only inconvieniently placed, they are also very small at 12MM compared to the 09-earlier 18MM sensor boss. The result is a temp increase which is never a good thing on the big air cooled v-twins

I think the 09 is a great choice and if you can get a deal at 2K off MSRP, it's a no brainer.

i was very hesitant about the 09 frames. but from everyones view, they seem to work much better than what went before it. i'm afraid to ride one, as it may cause me to go into debt, and my 08 is paid for. time will tell. but from what i understand they're far superior.

Swapped my 04 Road King for a 09 SG. I like the way the 09+ bikes handle compared to the older ones. Really had no problems with the 04, just liked the new set-up better. Have ridden a couple dozen 2010's for about 6 miles a shot (test rides after PDIs) and haven't found any real big differences. The 02 sensors were moved farther from the exhaust ports and are smaller, cat converters in all pipes, 18" wheels and the helical cut 5th gear are about all I can think of.

No one has mentioned the 103 engine in the new Ultra Limited? We saw one at Salt Lake Harley. For $25,500, (list is $25,899) it comes with extra chrome, luggage rack, heated grips, chrome wheels instead of aluminum, and beautiful custom paint. One thing though, is they took off the bag rails on the Limited, as they do on the Screamin' Eagles. I'd put them back on.

Interesting about the cats in all bikes, if that is true.

I think we were comparing apples to apples, or in this case, Ultra to Ultra. The Limited is more like a Junior CVO.

Are you unhappy with your '08? If you really want superior try a K1200lt - that was my ride before my '08 Ultra - the BMW was absolutely rock stable at 120. Go figure, I'm much happier with my HD. By the way, I added a True Track and the rear end is behaving nicely, I added progressive springs and emulators to the front and that feels great. Bottom line, not looking to move to an 09 or 10 or anything for a long, long time.

I finally got rid of payments on my 07 Ultra. Thought about trading for a 2010 Ultra Classic Limited. Took a test ride on one. Liked it a lot. Then compared the payments with the new factory installed accessories.
The first thing I noticed my 07 had better power over all- I have the SE 255 cams and stage 1 done. The only 2 features I miss is the 6 gallon take (I can get 200 miles per tank now) and the lower gearing (the SE255 cams cover that area)
The other thing was I do not like 2 tone paint on a bike.
I am a short guy so the 2010 is would be trying for me to ride.
Since My 07 is paid for and have most likely around $3,000 in chrome I will just add another 60,000 miles which will give a good round number of 100,000 miles on my 07

In God we Trust
