Two thou around France on my '08 was fine - it was the traffic problems in England which caused me suffering.
Firstly, the heat from the engine/pipes when stuck at a standstil for limited to slow filtering was incredible. I can't believe a couple of bits of plastic would make a difference but would love to hear from anyone who swears they do.
Then there was the **** pain which only occured the once when being held to a slow crawl for seven hours on the M25/M1/M6 by idiots who should rip up their driving licences.

5300 miles in 12 days on my 2009 RG
We headed from the Memphis area to the left coast, up to Monterey, CA, to Yosemite, to Carson City, NV, across Hwy 50 to St George, UT, through Zion, then to Glenwood Springs, CO, across Independence Pass to Clayton, NM. The last day.... 950 miles home. Yes, it was a long day. The wide butt H-D solo seat w/backrest really helped.
I spoke with my H-D dealer about the 2010's the other day. I told him I have 9000 miles on the bike he sold me 7 months ago. He was surprised! Damn... I bought it to ride, not sit in the garage. Ride safe gang.
BTW, I did notice some low speed front wobble (around 20 to 30 mph) if I didn't have at least one hand on the handlebars. Anybody experienced this before?
