I ride to work in heavy city traffic and too many times have had to lock up the brakes on my softail. I got pretty good at handling the rear trying to come around. I test rode a Street glide with ABS and took it out to a quiet road, got it up above 60 and grabbeed the brakes hard without letting up. It stopped quick and straight as an arrow. I rode back to the dealer and ordered mine with ABS. Well worth the cost in my opinion.

I've got 19,000 miles on my '08 and finally tried the ABS last weekend. My son and I rode to lunch together and on the way home it started raining hard. Of course we continued. He peeled off a for his house a few miles before my turn towards home. I was on a city street and decided to test the ABS and at about 30 mph I locked up both brakes and it just stopped straight as an arrow, just felt the chirping through the lever and pedal. After having it without needing it for 2 years, I'm sold and will never have another bike without it (if it's offered).
