There are two HD stores I know of in the Atlanta area that charge $35 per tire to remove, balance and reinstall.

Wait a second, you guys smear that grease on that big *** connector from the ECU to the tuner?? Or do you put it around the outer edge seal?? I thought that dielectric grease was an insulator.

Do you know if they use a static or dynamic balancer?

Not everyone gets enjoyment out of vehicle maintenance. For those people, looking for the best deal is important. We have 3 scooters in the family so at $70 labor per tire it took very few changes to pay for a lift, a Harbor Freight manual tire machine with the motorcycle tire attachment and the Harbor Freight tire balancer. Since buying all of that stuff my son and I have done many motorcycle tires, car and pickup tires and boat trailer tires. It can be somewhat strenuous and always a bit dirty work but it helps keep me young. We also patch our own flats. In the time it would take to drive to a tire place, wait our turn, have the job done, and drive back home we can get it done with no gasoline expense. Tomorrow I anticipate changing the rear tire on my Road King form an E3 to a Michelin Commander II. Unfortunately there will be some delay for the first ride after the change due to the cold snap.

I'm in the same boat, lots of stuff with tires. What kind of machine is this? Would you recommend it?

I do like my dealer and it is worth it to me to have someone doing that work that I trust.

Just curious how you guys have your tires done?

I put on the E3's and after about 80 miles last night the first thing I noticed was visually I noticed the aggresive tread. When riding it the grip was impressive.
Re: Just curious how you guys have your tires done?
There are lots of us who don't use the dealer for anything except warranty work, including tires etc. There are alternatives you know? If you are fine with paying a premium price for the dealer's labor, that is fine. But, it sounds like you are having doubts about getting bent over every time you buy something there, look elsewhere.
Why did they have to run diagnostics and reset some codes for a tire change?
