I'm in the same boat. Have ridden metrics for over 30 years but always wanted a Harley (I was too cheap or just couldn't afford one). Now that I am an owner of one I finally get it.
I have dropped a couple of thousand on extras and about to drop quite a bit more in having an S&S 106" Kit installed, adding a 2 into 1 D&D Fatcat Midnight Black BOSS, HogPro Primitive wheels, rotors and pully and I could go on and on.
Many of the northern guys wait until winter to do their major work. I am getting mine done this summer as Houston's 100 degree temps and 100% humidity make riding not so enjoyable. You need to be on the road by 7:00am and home by 10:00am so any long day ride is prohibited.
Should have everything completed in a month or so and will get pics up then.

Hondo, I've been riding a lot between Killeen and Houston this summer. Riding after sunset is pretty nice and I feel safer at night than I do during the day, especially on the Loop, the Beltway and the Tollway. Central Texas at night is a good ride, even in the summer. Get out of H-town and you'll have a great time. FWIW
