Default My 08 FLHX 103 Build

So I pulled the trigger on a 103 build and am happy, but not ecstatic. The bike drives great and has a very wide and fat torque curve, but I was expecting just a bit more than the final result delivered. I am blaming it on the thin CO air. Here are the details.

10 Litre Stage-2 Heads See: http://10litre.com/id47.html
SE 1550 Stroker Pistons (10.5 forged)
SE 253 Cam

Already had the Race Tuner and Bub-7 Duals. Bike sounds great and pulls hard from 2k RPM but is a bit weak off the line. It will loosen up a bit I am sure. Here is the dyno chart.

While not great #'s its a pretty conservative build, probably very easy on the wallet. Think I would have opted for something that came on a little sooner in a touring bike however. Just ride it, if you have fun with it dont worry what the sheet says.

Head Quarters Cams 0039's

One thing to remember is that unless both were run on the same dyno with the same dyno settings, you can't really compare the numbers.

I think if you want a big jump, you would need to do some head work or new heads. That's just my impression from reading stuff on here.
I'm no motor builder, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

It looks like it's a combination of heads and cams. Mine pumps 104HP and 116 ft. lbs. of torque and there are others pumping more.

out of smaller motors
and peak #'s dont mean squat unless your barstool racing.
see lots of guys that make good #'s, for about 500rpms. Then the motor falls flat on its face. Instead of bragging about #'s why dont you guys post some sheets....

Bruiser,
Those are not really bad #'s. Thats about right for the build you have there. The HD103 kits with 255's and stock heads are lower than that, but work well. The HQ103 kits I have built are 100-105hp with 110-115tq using a 10:1 CR. the 10.5:1 kits are more. It's all in the correct combination of heads/cams/and C.R. that makes a nice motor. It's hard to find parts that compliment each other and work well together, that's why its good to have a "package" deal from a reputable builder or company.......they have done the ground work for you and have combo's to prove it.

What is your elevation where tested? The 103/253 should be pretty wicked. I would agree your results look a bit less then I would expect. Maybe the tuner not knowing how to leverage the potential could be a factor too.
