Default Don't usually complain about tight but......

Well, here's the deal.....I have worn out two pairs of Doc Marten's riding, so I decided to go ahead and drop the coin on a pair of riding boots. They are thicker than my Docs and I can't get the toe under the shifter. Good thing didn't take off the heel shifter. Well, I took the bolt all the way out of the toe shifter and couldn't get it to budge at all. I did not remove the heel shifter, I figured that it being on there shouldn't make a difference in wether or not the it could move....what's the trick?

Isn't the heel shifter on the outside of the shaft? You'll have to remove the heel shifter, then the toe shifter, then rotate the toe shifter up a spline or two, then re-assemble.

Since there's teeth on the shaft and inside the shifter, I'm fairly certain you'll need to pull it off to adjust it. Remove the heel shifter, then the toe shifter. If it doesn't want to budge, tap a small flat bladed screwdriver into the slit. It'll spread the slit enough so that the shifter will budge.

You need to pull both heel and toe shifter off and replace a spline or two higher. I ahd the same problem with my Doc's as they have steel toes.

I'm not sure, they aren't completely gone, but the front of the left sole is worn way down. I don't know how, I don't drag my feet or anything

That is why I love this site. I was at the dealer on Sunday and found a pair of new boots 50% off. Couldn't pass them up so I bought them. However I have the same problem now. So you are saying you can adjust the toe shifter? That is the only one I have on, the rear was already removed. Thanks.

Yep. You can point it straight up in the air if you so choose.
