Hey anyone out there in Harley-Land know if the front wheel off a 2010 Street Glide will fit previous years, particularly a 2007? I have to say I was never a fan of stock Glide wheels until i saw the new 18'' in the showroom.
Okay so here's what you have to do. The 2008 and newer wheels use a 24mm bearing, 2007 and older use a 1" bearing (Yes Harley has gone metric). The tube inside the 2010 wheel will fit both the 24MM and 1" axle so this does not have to be replaced. The bearings from the 07 will not fit the 2010 rim.
You'll have to take your bearings out of the 2010 wheel and take them to a bearing provider, I went to Detroit Bearing in Detroit Mi. explain that you need to buy new bearings with the same OD but with 1" ID. I paid about 20 bucks each for these. Install the new bearings and the 2010 tube into the 2010 rim. You will have to use the rotors from the 2007, the 2010 rotors will not fit. You will need to replace the left side wheel spacer with a 1"spacer. The right spacer can remain the same as with the 2007 rim
just use the axle and spacers off a 2009 or 2010 bike and you can use your ol rotors done deal guaranteed. pm if anybody wants a 2010 18 front wheel and tire... has about 600 miles on it. $300 for tire and rim
I bought a flush mount axle for a 08 and up. $80 on ebay. You'll have to play with the spacers a bit to get the calipers to sit on the rotors correctly.
