tell me this about the monster ovals, they look very wide, do they reduce the lean angle when going through a curve? just curious.
Coming out of certain driveways it is quite easy to scrape the undersides of the tips; esecially if you have them flipped.
Scrapping the rest of the pipe depends on how aggressively you attack the curves. I happen to love riding through long sweeping curves at speed on ANY type of motorcycle including my Street Glide. The Dunlop Elite 3's are part of the blame for this; they encourage me.
These are big pipes; however, and I have scrapped the forward lower portion of the pipe (heat shielding) while entering a freeway.
The heat shielding is the entirety of what you see of the pipes other than the tips. They are replaceable from Vance & Hines for $134.96 each. Right side is part number D725HC. Left side is D726HC.
I read the same thread about the guy that got his dynoed. I drilled a 3/8 hole on each side and he was right it is about 20% louder. Now the monster ovals are perfect.
I loved them before but now they have the right rumble but not to loud
Did it make them flutter at all???
Thats what I was wondering???
I cut out some on my stock pipes and it made them flutter and sound like chit!!!!
But Drilling 2 holes 1 on each side would make them loudwe hmmmmm
I may get my drill out!!!
No - I like 'em the way they are and I have true duals.
Do you think the fueler was needed with the duals and the monsters? This is one settup that I am contemplating. I like the looks of the duals, but have been told they lose some power compared to the 2-1 pipes that are avaiable. I am wondering if the race tuner or somthing simular would be needed to adjust for the change or if a simple download would do it. I don't want to have a setup that is too loud. I also love the clean looks and lack of blue from the true duals that I have seen at the shop where I work. I am just estimating the cost at 1500 for just pipes stage one and install. If I go with a fueler and dino tune I am probably going to touch 2G's
