In Nevada you must have a license plate on all trailers, period...

Here is Oklahoma, personal use trailer cannot be tagged, it is actually illegal to put a commercial trailer tag on a non-commercial trailer. I can cross the state line, and I still do not need a tag, I could not get one if I wanted it. At Least that is what the Highway patrol office told me last year, when I called. Scary part is you don't need trailer lights if you can see the lights on the towing vehicle.

Just don't let it happen after dark on "Take Back Our Freeways" with no tag or lights.

Ct here.

No tag= no personal property tax + no registration fees = no revenue stream = tag required on pretty much anything with wheels

In Ca., trailer plates are issued once...permanent. Same thing in Montana.
In Fl., trailer tags are renewed annually. I've lived in all three.
Ca has a maximum towing spped of 55 MPH. Ask me how I know!

As far as I am concerned, the rat bastards of the CHP are interested in only one thing...the collection of revenue!

Cross the state line out of Ca., and all of a sudden it is no longer "unsafe" (like the CHP says) to tow at the posted speed limit.
In most other states the towing speed is the same as the posted speed limit. Glad I don't live there anymore.
Sorry I hijacked the thread.

You can buy a "non-expiring" tag for a personal trailer. I assume it's so if you cross into a state the requires one you'll be legal in that state.
