Well...just thought I'd chime in to defend the standards -- - --I'm happy with my standard - I dont need all the crap on it...just ride the heck out of it, and enjoy it...a few doo dads...that's it- - baseline and ready to ride, saves me lots of money just watching everyone else spend theirs! --I went through that urge to buy buy buy when I had my sporty, in the end, it was nice, but too much bolt on crap...no more! Just enjoy the ride!

It's all a matter of taste. If it's early in your Harley life, talk to folks like you are doing... you can learn alot. For instance, I've known folks that initially buy a Fatboy for obvious reasons. Then they realize they want a windshield. Pretty soon they are wanting to do some long trips.... they add saddlebags, yadda, yadda... pretty soon they have a Heritage, but spent a whole lot more getting there. All the bikes are great - just different strokes for different folks. My advice would be to sit down and decide how you are going to use the bike and then get out a pencil and calculator. You may be able to save yourself some cash in the long run. All the bikes run pretty close in price when you get down to brass tacks. It's all about what you want it to be for you.

I Here rumors of a touring model with the v-rod engine. OHC, Water Cooled.

Sound Interesting?

Have not heard that one. I have heard larger engine sizes, 6 speed tranny etc but who knows. Can't wait until the 07's drop as I'm without a ride now that I sold my fatboy...

I was one that went the stardard route also. I like the idea of a blank canvas. Dont need a radio, a tourpak and that black engine did not appeal to me. With the money I saved on the price of the bike, I bought stuff I really wanted on the scooter... Chromed the engine, SERT, New pipes, grips, Fastaire shield, Corbin seat... I spent less to make my bike look the way I wanted it to look than I would have spent on and EGC with a detachable tourpak and different seat...

I should have posted on this thread before now, I did upgrade to the 06 Ultra...

Dealer said nothing about the 07 engine and trans upgrades, but I
am OK with my 06... for now....

First congrats on the new ride I'm sure you'll get plenty of miles on her before you know it. Just out of curiosity... Did Mancusso give it to you for MSRP and which location did you buy it from? North or the original location on 610? I would think they would have come down to MSRP by now but I can remember when they wouldn't even think about MSRP when everyone else in town was doing it.
