I only have a couple black ones. Numerous chrome ones. Never a problem.

Basically it is a plastic condom for the cheap *** nuts & bolts HD puts on from the factory. They work & look pretty good in fact... in essense makes all your cheap little nuts dissappear.

Of course nothing beats polished stainless, except I've never seen polished stainless in black.

Amen!!!

My son 'blacked out' his sporty. He powder coated the heads of a bunch of bolts and screws...just taped off the shanks. Looks good. Don't know how durable it'll be though.

Those things = more $$ for any bike I touch.

They are a royal PITA and should be used on nothing but Goldwings.

If it's just the ones on the motor, maybe your running too hot.

I do not know if you know but hot toppers have a lifetime warranty.. So if your hot toppers are cracking, splitting, fall off, all you have to do is call them up (if you have registered for the warranty) and tell them what has happened and they will send you out new ones for your cracked ones that you return. Hot Toppers are the only caps that have a lifetime warranty. Also, the hot toppers should not be cracking. They are made out of a high heat abs plastic that should not be affected by the heat of the bike. I have had chrome and black hot toppers on my bikes, and I have had 2-3 crack here and there over years but they have always replaced them with their lifetime warranty.
