Default INTERMITTENT MISS

I HAVE AN INTERMITTENT MISS THAT OCCURS OCASSIONALLY. DOESNT SEEM TO MATTER IF BIKE IS HOT OR COLD, DRIVEN HARD OR EASY, SLOW OR FAST. I HAVE REPLACED ALL THE HARDWARE IN THE TANK INCLUDING THE FUEL PUMP. NEW PLUGS,WIRES AND INJECTORS.ONLY ELECTRICAL LEFT WOULD BE REPLACING THE ECM AND RACE TUNER. COULD IT BE VALVES? OR SOMETHING INTERNAL TO THE ENGINE?THE BIKE HAS A BUILT 95 INCH MOTOR WITH GEAR DRIVE CAMS (S&S 510s),10 AND A HALF COMPRESSION WISCO PISTONS AND SOME LIGHT HEADWORK. THIS THING IS DRIVING ME CRAZY. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHAT THE PROBLEM IS? I AM EVEN CONSIDERING BUYING A NEW BIKE AS I HAVE A TRIP BLANNED TO BILLINGS MONTANA TO HOGs ANNUAL RALLE WHICH I AM SUPPOSED TO LEAD. I WONT PAWN THE BIKE OFF ON ANYONE BEFORE I SOLVE THE PROBLEM BUT I REALLY DONT WANT ANOTHER BIKE BUT MY CONFIDENCE IS LOW CONSIDERING A 5,000 MILE TRIP. BESIDES, I HAVE THE BIKE THE WAY I WANT IT AND HAVE INVESTED A LOT OF MONEY IN IT. IT IS A 2002 ULTRA CLASSIC. HELP!!!!!! NOT THE ONE YOU SEE PICTURED.

How about a new CVO ULTRA with GPS, blinged, stroked, worry free......and ready to rock! Time for a change?

Sounds like you've checked everything I would've suggested. I can't think of anything. I'm stumped. Wish I could help.

It could be, For what you have already spent on the bike replacing things you could have had it trouble shooted by a dealer. That would be my suggestion.

Could you be a little more specific about the miss? I use to train GM technicans and I would tell them a word they will end up hating is "intermittent".It is very difficult for even the best techs. Do to the fact there are so many different things that can cause them. Example let's say you go down to the Harley Dealer to buy new spark plugs you install them and all the sudden you have a miss under load .What you dont know is someone droped the box they came in before you got them and they looked new but one had a little crack internally which is arking once in a while causing a miss so you take it to the dealer and say fix it . This tech spends hours even days trying to find it now put your self in his shoes all the best test equipment you have but you are trying to find a intermittent miss which is a miss fire at 1 or 2 RPM when you are dealing with 900 to 4500 RPM range ! To date the best testing equipment Computers, scanners scopes, etc.cant help you to much you have to take a guess knowing there are a lot of things that can cause this Now figure all the hours you have invested and the parts cost this poor guy is going to have to pay for . Heres the best part you ruled out the spark plugs cause they where new. The customer is shocked and pissed over the repair cost You are mad cause he does not understand what hell you have been threw . Customer now takes his bike home and guess what that intermittent miss is still there.........ouch

I have a similar problem with my '01 Roadking Classic. It started after I put the 98" kit, etc. in it and added a PCIII. It's so intermittent that it doesn't bother me yet. My opinion is that it has something to do with the ECM, maybe the communication between the ECM and the PCIII. I'm certainly no expert and the bike runs fine otherwise. I only have about 600 miles on it since doing the work on it, so not a lot of time to worry about it. I'd really be interested in hearing what you find is the problem so keep us posted. BTW, my bike has the Magnetti Morelli fuel injection system, it was only used for a few years.
