Default Tire pressure??

I just picked up an '08 SG today but the previous owner did not have the owners manual (gonna try to get one on eBay or from the dealer). In the mean time can someone tell me the proper tire pressure for front and rear (stock) tires? Thanking you in advance!

Right or wrong, I run 38 front and 40 rear no matter the load. I got 16,000 miles out of my first rear and had miles left. The front was nowhere near worn out but since I changed tire type (Elite 3) I changed them both together.

The max recommended tire preasure is written on every tire. That is the number to use.

Seriously, - do not use the numbers on the sidewall -- those are the max pressures the tire can take before it blows up. The manual has the right numbers and if you're running aftermarket tires, go to their site (e.g., Avon, Metzler) and look up the proper recommended pressures for your bike and load.
