I'm considering switching out my compensator on my 01 RK. It's carbed, so it has the 3.15 gearing. It seems like it would be pretty close to the 3.37 gearing and cheaper. Anyone using it that can offer input?
need to make sure you got enough adjustment in the tensioner for the slack in the chain. and make sure the new compensator is shimmed rite (for a tite fit and no slop). guy in another room did this and the compensator had to be machined for tighter fit (it came loose and trashed alot of stuff in the primary)when he got everthing rite,, he loved it
you will gain in tq but will also gain in rpms on cruisen speeds.. my parts book only shows 24 and 25 tooth sprokets for my 00 model(24 commonly used on the ultra classics for the extra weight)
will make the bike feel alot quicker out of the hole. but you might miss the top end speed, its great for around town and 2 lane back roads but if your gonna be doing over 70 on the super slab you might not like it.
I have a 1 year old daughter, so my superslab rides are on hold for a while. Baker makes a kit that includes a shorter chain, so the tensioner should not be an issue. My in town riding back and forth to work should be more fun with the additional torque.

If thats your style of riding you will like it, just get a front sprocket 2 teeth smaller, no need to replace chain or anything else, I think it was a softail sprocket I used, as long as you don't do more then a steady 70 you'll love it, you can even go 85 but the revs will start to bother you if it is steady JMO
I have an SE 21T compensator kit in my Dyna. Reduces top gear (5-spd) to around 19mph per 1,000rpm. Came with a shorter primary chain. Rolls on in top gear a treat!
