Default 3.37 vs. 3.42 gearing

I've been reading a lot of the prior postings regarding the 3.37 from 3.15 modification. I'm wondering why this is so much more popular than using Baker's 23t compensator kit. It's $100 cheaper and if my calculations are correct, gives you a 3.42 ratio. Using the rpm/mph calculator, http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/calc_speed_rpm.htm, both end up turning around 3600rpm @ 80mph. Is there something I'm missing?

Sounds good to me! I actually have an SE 21T kit on my Dyna, to really shorten gearing, to around 19mph per 1,000rpm (or about 4,200 at 80mph). Rolls on in top a treat! The Baker kit seems a better idea to me. My dresser is running a similar gearing to the figures you mention.
