I have a 07 Road King Custom (pictured below). It has the 96" engine and 6 speed tranny along with Stage 1, SEAC and SE slip-ons. It is lower than the other Road Kings stock. The picture has the stock seat which is very comfortable to me but I also have a Corbin Classic Solo. The bike has added the passing lights, Kury ergo engine guards, and lots of other goodies, including detachable windshield, passenger back rest and luggage rack. The handlebars are fine for me but I will probably eventually change to ape hangers just for the heck of it. By the way, they were made from 2004 through 2007. The 07 has the 96" and 6 speed.
This is a great bike for around town or cross country touring. Right now, there is no other Harley that I would rather have. You will not be disappointed with an FLHRS. Good luck.

I also had an '05 Custom before I bought my SG. I had a stage II big bore with Rinehart TD. Replaced the handlebars with Wild One 518s, Corbin seat, and more. It was a nice ride.
I have to say I like the 6-speed tranny and hard bags on the new bike. The leather bags don't seal well from weather and you have to keep up with the leather to keep it from puckering if it gets wet. Somewhat of a pain when you're on a trip.

The RK custom has many special parts for its model.
It has better handle bars than the base RK, it has the longer RG type front fender with no crap on it, it has chrome five spoke wheels, it has the cool little chrom wind deflector on the hand bars, it had a special dash that was much more sleek than the base dash, it has a more basic and clean looking rear fender treatment, it had a differant seat and they had the leather look type bags.
That's all I can remember!!

I feel very fortunite to have purchased the last model year of the road king custom since there isn't a model that came out afterward that I would consider trading up to. Unless they come out with a 2011 road king custom with the wider tire/rear fender and maintain the clean low rider look of the previous customs. The beach bars are a natural feel fit for me. I did purchase the sundowner seat for more lower back support. A great handling bike with the custom look.........I'm happy.
