The parts list including the $37 new lock out switch totals $638 list and chrome adds another $150. That of course doesn't include any $'s for labor.

I'm guesing at a dealer you're talking $1,000+. In the end you get a clutch mechanism that is no easier to pull than the OE '07 and up however it requires no adjustment and the clutch master cylinder on the left handlebar cosmetically balances the brake master cylinder on the right handlebar.

No clutch cable adjustment and cosmetic balance for $1,000. God bless you. That kind of attention to detail either deserves recognition or a trip to the building with padded rooms. LOL
I just ran the same parts through Chicago Harley's website. Their prices came to $523 for parts, & this installation is absolutely bone simple. There's no need to have a dealer install this stuff. It's literally unbolt the old stuff, bolt on the new stuff, & bleed the line just like a brake. Well worth the investment.

Peddler, I know what your saying, but ease of the clutch lever had nothing to do with my decision to install a hydraulic unit. I like how it feels and I like how it shifts, and please don't ask how I believe it shifts smoother, I don't know, to me, it just does.
As far as price. I ordered everything through Chicago HD and it cost me 20% less plus no sales tax. Cost wise it wasn't that bad. Plus I do all my work myself.

Hey Jinks, pull that outer fairing off and remove that black wire from the harness coming from your left switch housing. I know how annoying that damn security light can be. Plus I like that 6th gear indicator light. I'll get back to you with that part number. I havn't yet changed out the switch.

I'll watch for the part number if you want to send it again. Maybe this time I won't loose it.... I've got your cliff notes on the wire change, but I'm about to leave for the left coast & don't want to yank anything off the bike right now. Maybe when I get back. Besides, after this long, I'm used to the security key & my 6th gear light isn't bright enough to see in direct sunlight anyway.

I have nothing but respect for anyone that is that detail oriented and anyone that is willing to spend $'s based on their desire to satisfy their individual motorcycle requirements. It also makes me look less compulsive and my friends would tell you that's not easy.

My hat's off to you.

Ride safely.

Because I didn't want a chrome master cylinder I went into the V-Rod catalog and ordered a black master cylinder (it's the same size, 11/16) All bolted up great. If anyone is interested I can provide all the part numbers.
Now, this is important, if you do this there is one more thing you have to do. There is a clutch lock out switch in your left switch housing (this prevents you from starting the bike while it is in gear) You need to change out the switch because it is a normally closed switch on the clutch cabled bikes and a normally open switch on the hyd. clutch bikes. If you don't your bike will only be able to start while in nuetral and not in gear while the clutch is pulled in. What also happens if you don't change this switch out is your security (key) light will go on while riding and your 6 gear light will not function.
I can't say enough about how better this bike now shift's. Way better! The only complaints I've heard from people is that the hyd system is alittle more "abrupt" then the cable but it doesn't take long to get used to. If i can answer any question's for anyone plz shout my way. Rich
