Default tire milage and cupping on 2009s

I have a 2009 Ultra and just had the rear tire done at 15.3K. When I took it into the dealer the service manager showed me how my front tire had lots of cupping. He told me that it is little known by many dealers, but this is a warranty item has the tread pattern is causing the cupping. So my local Harley dealer replaced the front tire for free and submitted a warranty claim. Apparently many HD dealers are not keeping upto date on the latest warranty info, so they are unaware. If you have an 09 touring bike get the front tire replaced under warranty. The new front tire I got has the tread pattern reversed as to avoid the cupping defect that the stock tire has.

I have 11k on my rear and they look pretty good still. The front looks bad. I just ordered wheels from Hog Pro with Metzlers and hope they get here in the next four weeks before I take off on a long 10-day trip. I really do not want to buy tires for the trip when I have them coming, you know?

Just had my 10K service done and my rear tire has 'just enough to go to the 12,500 svc'

Fortunately, the first tire I buy is a freebie...so I'll replace it right after I get back from Sturgis (I'll put 2500 miles on in the next week )
