If it rains you'll get wet. Just not as fast as on an un-faired bike. You will still need a rainsuit.

Not to suggest being unsafe but the faster you are traveling the less rain that hits you. Now if you are going 25 or it is a monster downpour then you are pretty much all wet. Got caught in a real heavy summer mountain thunder deluge a few weeks back but hell it was 98 in the shade before i hit the rain and it felt so good I just kept going and didn't bother to stop to don the rain gear (much to my wife's dissapointment but the wet t-shirt was worth it).
A good rain suit, frequent waterproofing of the boots (never used gaters) and a full face or shorty with a face shield and I rarely ever stop for the rain.
Now forty degrees and hard rain and yeah I am probably hittin a waffle house for some hot joe and lettin it pass if I can.

You'll get wet but it's not the end of the world. With the lowers you get alot more protection.

Best protection of all the touring bikes. Here in Fl, we get a lot of quick afternoon showers that are no problem to ride through, assuming you don't have to stop or go slow. For any prolonged rain, the suit goes on or you will get wet. Compared to my-ex Road King that had a windshield, much better protection.

GL1500 and the rain protection is outstanding until you stop for a light. I've never used the pants of my rainsuit. Boots do get soaked though.

If I do get caught in a hard rain I will stop and put my rain gear on. Other wise if it is raining I stay home and play with the neighbor kids ma ma.
