Default Can I convert the front forks on my '08 FLHT to air forks?

If so what do I need? do I have to change anything internally?

TIA

You could always get the internals out of say a 2001 parts book and tubing and whatnot that you need. Why are you doing that?

I've wondered about the benefits of converting to air as well. I have a 2008 FLHTCI that has a Roadsmith custom trike conversion kit. Now, with the extra weight it seems like I have reduced front fork tube travel and it feels like I bottom out a lot. The front forks also seem really stiff.

Would adding air help or is heavier fork oil the answer?

Harley had front air shocks on some of the models in the past.
If it was such a good thing, I'd imagine we'd still have front air shocks and we don't!
Better suspension upgrades available today.
No reason to go backwards.

Did it to my 04 RK while changing fork oil.

Drilled the fork caps, tapped them and threaded in a set of air shock connectors from my old shocks. Used the air lines and shrader, mounted them on the front gas tank bolt with a little bracket.

I have not had a chance to play with it.

Get the proper springs, valving, oil, cartridge... Going backwards to the old leaky air forks is silly.

I rode a 1987 Tour Glide for a couple years. It had air front forks with an anti dive feature and used the front crash bar a an air reservoir.
This was the smoothest riding bike I have ever been on.
