It was, but it was 88/5. The '07's were the first year of the 96 ci engine, and the updated 6 speed gearbox that was introduced in the Dyna line in '06. So by "first year" I was referring to that combination in a touring bike.

It also required purchasing the IDS, which became standard on the '08 touring models.

Not implying the '07 was a bad bike, by any means. After I was done with my upgrades I loved the bike. Just saying I'll wait a year or two after significant changes are made to give them time to iron out things like that before I purchase.

Besides, having just purchased a '10 RG Custom, it'll be a while before I'm tempted to upgrade like that again.

 

I agree, no more new Harley's for me until they come out with a liquid cooled touring bike....

I love these threads especially when the "TRADITIONALIST" come out saying it isn't a Harley if it isn't air cooled and they would never own one. I would assume all of the "TRADITIONALIST" all ride kick start, non electronic ignition, carbureted, drum brake Harley's. They wouldn't want to move away from "TRADITION".

 

I'd like to water inject my EFI and 6th gear up some engineer's @ss, and stick my cell phone in their microwave...........

 

So what is it you water cooled guys expect to gain? They don't run cooler, Yamaha and Victory prove you can make Horsepower just fine with an air cooled motor and meet emissions. So what is it you expect to gain by throwing an ugly *** hot radiator on the front of the bike?

Exactly. Once harley does this, they'll be back to selling so many bikes they'll have a waiting list again. For the liquid cooled tourer anyways.

 

Seems like forever since we had a liquid cooled thread. Guess it's only been a few years.

a water cooled touring harley would be a culture change......the forums would have very little garage talk and more road trip and event talk...like the honda forum
