Default Major Wind on 2009 Street Glide

Was riding my new bike the other day and finally got to open it up a little. Found I had to croutch down quite a bit to avoid alot of wind. Bike came with the standard 4" windshield, has anyone else had this problem and if so what size windshield do you recommend. Do get me wrong I LOVE the bike just trying to improve.

There are tons of threads on windshields , so you need to use the search feature to look at some.

Really depends on how tall you are , i use a klockwerks 6.5 flare windshield and love it.

Everyone has a different opinion on what works for them so its hard to say what will work for you

But i will tell ya you can definately improve over stock shield

Yea, the screen that comes stock sucks in my opinion. Had good luck with Cee Bailey 9 inch and Klock Werks 6.5 inch (which is what I currently use).

For starters id get a stock Glide shield...Try that and see what you think of that..You can also cut it doun. Then after you get your "Happy" Height you can go to other makes that will customize the wind to your liking...You might try trading your shield to someone here on the forum..Good Luck!! I Know the shape of the shield is in great debate at this time, however a very simple test will tell you about what height you need. Riding on a fairly straight low traffic road at highway speed take your left hand , palm away from you and position above or at the top of the sheild in the center, slowly raise until desired results are aparent. The average hand is about 4 inches wide. Mine resulted in an 8 inch shield, I'm 5-10. This height reduces the buffeting and allows the radio to be heard much clearer at speed. I bought mine from ebay for $34.00 and am very happy with it. Now you can spend alot more if you wish and may or may not be pleased with the results...Just my 2 cents, Scooter

I recently put on the 6 1/2" Klock Werks Flare, and it's working pretty darn well. Did a little 600 miler this weekend, and it wasn't bad at all. I really like the look. For a 3-4000 miler I might put on a 8 inch, but for just kicking around, that KW shield is great. I've had a ton of compliments on it too!

What kind of prices are you guys paying for the Klock Werks windshields? $169 direct seems like a lot compared to the price of a Clearview Recurve.

Ebay has klock werks for $147 with free shipping. The Long Ride Shields also look pretty good.
