Are you kidding? I about passed out watching the service tech drill holes in my new tour pack for the luggage rack. Just kidding but I was nervous. Take the advice above and remove it first, put tape over the area and use a pilot drill or two depending on your hole size. There's no second chances on this stuff.

BTW, I would have installed the rack myself but I was on the road at the time. Wife + shoes = need more space.

After you drill through your wiring harness, Put on some wet socks and shoes and take a screwdriver and stick it in a wall socket. Report back on your findings.

keep the fire extinguisher nearby. nah, really take these guys experience, and remove your outer fairing first to assure that you're not going to damage anything.

Haven't done it to mie yet, but I plan to do so. I wouldn't recommend drilling without removing the fairing first.

It's no big deal if you do it right -- remove the outer fairing, find the place you want your hole, put tape on the outside of the inner fairing and drill from the inside going out. If you're drilling a big hole, use a pilot drill and work your way up. I put a hole in my inner fairing for the supply valve of my onboard air compressor...
