heated grips- need wiring help
Im putting heated grips on my bike, in july... I know!
Its a 06 street glide, i want to wire them in to the accessory switch so i can turn them on and off. Can someone tell me how this can be done? Also do i need to run to the battery for power or this there a place under the batwing that i can pick it from?

i did this on my 03 heritage and there should be 3 wires
1 hot 12v (to the battery)
2 ground (to the batt or any part of the frame or bolt that ties into the frame with raw steel)
3 power on lead (this cable taps into any running assessory like your running lights, head light or any other power source that is only on when you turn your ignition on). this bascially will only allow the grips to get power when the ignition is turned on so theres no chance of you draining the battery when the bike is off.
The harley directions will tell you to remove the tank and run it under the tunel but I found it much easier to run it under the top tank panel (gauge) then follow the seat frame rail to the batt. Also depending on what kind of handle bar you have i found that coax with a little oil helps to fish first than follow with the acutal wire that goes from grip to grip because if their any type of handle bar with a rise its tough to get the flimsy wire thru the bends. good luck man and let me know if you need more info.
