2007 FLHT shutting off fixed
This is my first post, have read many, wanted the family to know of an issue that I had over the weekend that the dealer has not seen before. I did a short search here and did not find it either. Did a search on the internet to no avail.
Riding down the road, I punched the throttle, took it to 5500 rpm's, engine died like you would shut off the key. Pulled to the side, let it set, checked fuses, ignition spark, pulled the relays, put relays back in. Crank engine, no start. Shook the bike and the bike started. Turned the bike around, headed back to the house, jumped into the throttle again, got it to 4800 rpm's, bike shut off again and would not restart. Hauled it to the dealer. The diagnosis was a fuel supply check valve stuck closed in the quick disconnect at the bottom of the tank. They cleaned the check valve/ housing/ ball assembly. Reinstalled. Problem gone. A question that was raised on this issue, is ethanol in today's fuel contributing to this problem? Great forum!!

fuel issue
Let me start by saying, i am absolutely not a fuel expert so please don't raz me; I am however a mechanic. As far as ethanol, I do not see much problems just lower fuel economy. The only fuel we ever have problems with is bio diesel (bdi) due to the fact it messes up injectors.
I can only conclude you bought fuel from a station with a dirty tank.
