Just completed a 2300 mile trip a couple of weeks ago and averaged 40MPG

About 38 - 42 most of the time since the PC-V, mufflers & AC upgrade. I got 45 once doing some nice & easy 2-up riding, and 35 doing exactly the opposite!

Last month I rode with a stock '08 Ultra and a '08 Street glide with D&D pipes & PC-III at highway speeds for 180 miles. The stock Ultra used exactly the same amount of gas I did and the street glide used 1/10th of a gallon more. The stock bike did improve more than the other two at lower speeds, though.

I have an 06 Fatboy with a 2" tank lift. My light comes on around 100-125 miles on the tank. It was never very accurate (even before the lift). I usually fill up around 130 with just under half a tank left. It gets around 35mpg in town and 45 on the highway. I tend to ride it pretty hard when it's stop and go.

I have an 87 flhtc, 80 CID punched and streched to 89CID, S&S Super E carb, White bro's E series 2into1 Exhaust. When I'm riding with the chapter, I get in the mid 40's to the gal. When I'm riding alone, and digging the rush and sound of my exhaust, I get 25-30 MPG.

My bone stock '09 gets around 45 mpg riding two up, in the mountains, fairly conservative on the throttle (at least I think I'm conservative).

When I'm by myself it gets a little better.

Did you guys that have modified your exhaust/intake find that your fuel economy improved or worsened after that mod? Mine seemed to get worse when I did my '05 Super Glide (carbureted).
