5000 Mile Service. No tranny oil!
This is my first post. I bought a new 2008 EGC last year. Have not had any problems. Took it in to the dealer to have the 5000 mile service. On the ride home I noticed that sometimes the tranny was making more noise than usual. I live about 10 miles from the dealer. It was about 90 degrees outside.
When I got home I checked the tranny fluid level and found that no oil showed up on the dipstick! Called the dealer and he send the mechanic right out. They assured me that there would be no damage in only 10 miles. The mechanic claims that the oil level was just below the dipstick, but not empty. Had to add about 1/2 quart.
I told the dealer that I wanted a note added to my bike history about this as I am nervous about possible problems down the road as a result.
What do you think? Should I be concerned about problems?

If it had a half quart in it,it probably didn't do any damage in just a few miles, but a note in the service file is a good idea. More likely, though, it didn't have any oil in it. The trans holds a quart of oil. Why would a tech pour a half quart in and stop ? Believe I'd drain the trans fluid thru a white cloth and check for metal.

I believe I'd follow advice given above about draining it. Even use the white cloth idea. I bet once you drain it, you'll be lucky if there was a full quart in it after the tech wienie put the 1/2 quart in it.
By draining it yourself, and putting a full quart in yourself, you're sure it was done right.
