Mine came with a template. I couldn't figure out the template though, I think I rationalized the template was for a "wing" in case you want to put the tour pak rack on later, wound up throwing the template away and using blue tape. After you drill the first hole, the rest were a piece of cake. The lid is ABS plastic so its actually pretty easy to drill into.

Be aware that because of the position of the rack, depending on the weight of whatever you place on the rack, there can be a big change in the way your scooter handles.

There Is a 10lb weight limit on the rack, which is more for handling of the bike than anything else I think. I've had double that on mine, and had no problems (although you wanna hold the weight off the hinges if you have to open the trunk lid.

Be sure to position the rack 1" to 1.5" away from the backrest so your better half's fingers don't get caught in between.

Had my dealer put it on cuz I could point my finger at him if he screws it up. Also, What's $55 an hour labor ?. IMO, Nothing...Just a piece of my mind knowing it's done right.
