Great advice! I'll be receiving my Air Wing Tour-Pak luggage rack and light kit that I ordered from Chicago HD sometime next week and was a little concerned about installing it.

Great for rain gear in a duffel.

Oh wait...... forgot one very important tip. If you are married, have your wife come out to the shop and agree that your placement of the rack is perfect BEFORE you drill.

I was too big of a chicken to do it on my own. I paid a half hour labor to have the dealer do it. I know, I'm a looser! Better they screw up my tour-pack than me..

Do a forum search and you'll find a post last week from a guy who had the dealer do the rack install. The dealer placed the rack up against the backrest where it will rub and there's no room for bungees or straps.

I've got the same chore to do before Sturgis. I've been putting this off, just because I hate the idea of drill holes in that brand new tour pak lid. Plus, I want to be able to use the tourpak bra with the rack on. So that complicates it just a little. Maybe I'm just getting lazy! It's happening this week though.

like a lot of posts have pointed out, measure about 15 times before you drill! It honestly is a piece of cake.

Nothing to it ! I've done 3 of my Ultra's-- blue tape-- measure twice-- drill once-- a little silicon in the holes and you're done

It is a piece of cake, I took one off of my "05 and moved it to the new '09. Even without the template it is a no brainer.
