I filled the kneck of my Fatboy and it never quit leaking grease! I have a 5 year warranty so if the kneck bearings go out, HD can fix it! I will never fill the kneck again!

One final thought about this neck grease deal.

If it's so important, why isn't it done at the factory or at least at dealer set up?
Every other lubricant is in there when you buy the bike.
And why do you wait until 1000 miles or whatever to fill it? Do the bearings have to break in or something? Do you have to worry about "bearing skate" if you fill it too soon?
I need to know.

"It can only hurt if you put too much in on hot days."

Yeah, especially if you have a lot to put in, and you are bald and it is hot in the sun.

I mean you could get sunburn on your bald spot, and, that hurts like hell. (Not that I know about the bald spot, but have had sunburn before without grease or a bald spot)

So, watch out....do not grease while it is hot, get into the shade, cover your bald spot.

Grease + Hot + bald spot = Hurt

Ya as well as the air fitting for the rear shocks, too bad they fogot to position the tire fill valves where you could actually get to them!

You should only grease your neck bearings while in the shade on a cool day and covering your bald spot or else your warranty will be revoked and no starbucks for you and it will hurt.

2 fittings would have been so much better... top and bottom so the bearings get the grease directly, not the whole steering tube

How much abuse does a neck bearing get anyway??? Almost none...compared to a wheel bearing..Mine works fine and is still feeling tight so it's left alone for now....I sure don't wan't no grease spilling out of there....maybe at 50k i will check and re-pack....MAYBE....Maybe i will have another bike at 60k at this rate so...maybe HD will have Prestone glides by then...i hear those will be self lubricating....Aut blinker fuid levelization also....Ride it like you stole it...

I always apply grease to bald head while in shade and then go out into sun.
So far so good, will give you progress reports.

Use John Deere Corn Header grease. It is made to withstand rigorous temperatures. It does not ooze a bit. I live in N. Tx and we have been having 104-106 degree temps. Been using it for 2 years.
