half helmets and wind

I am a hearing aid professional and deal with patients with hearing loss all day long. I highly recommend, for all, to wear ear protection when riding. The combination of wind and road noise is a recipe for disaster and that road leads to hearing loss.
The best type of protection is the custom made type which come in various decibel levels. They can be purchased at any hearing aid provider. The process is simple, an impression is taken of your ear canal (it's painless) and the mold is sent to a lab for manufacturing. The price can be anywhere from $50 to $100 depending on how much profit the provider wants to make, so shop around.
Believe it or not, your radio will actually be easier to hear with custom ear plugs.
