SF (the city) itself is no fun to ride in. Check w/Dudley Perkins or one of the Eagle Riders rentals in the area.(sanfrancisco.eaglerider.com)
Best bet is head south down the coast, or across the Golden Gate Bridge (worth doing if you never have) and head north up Hwy 1.
Can't go wrong wither way. Inland is good . Wine Country (Napa/Sonoma) is nearby, but temps in the 100's (being in FL, you prob want out of that. Guarenteed 70's on the coast.
Good Luck!!

Not sure if you are a national HOG member but if you are Harley Davidson has a year round fly and ride program in San Francsico, If your flight is set you can book direct with the fly and ride program a few weeks out and its a good deal at $100 and day with a two day minimum but at $100 a day you will pay $175 per day for an Eagleriders rental, good company just a little pricy IMHO. I have done the fly and ride a couple of times once in Alaska and it was great, they also send you a fly and ride pin and location pin. Just go to the HOG website and you can look into the fly and ride program, it also compares HD normal rental to the fly and ride program, I booked my Alaska fly and ride only a week and a half out. As far a riding, if its clear the ride along the coast is awsome way better than the southern Califonia coast a lot less busy, but it can get that marine layer fog when its hot in the valley, but again many great rides once you get out of San Fran metro. Good luck and keep us posted.
