My front tire is also starting to cup, just starting to feel it when riding on good roadway. I guess it's from using front brakes.
I've never gotten over 15K out of any set of tires....ever.
Mostly change them around 10K.
My HD dealer runs a sale on tires during the winter, so I always seem
to buy a set and leave them at the shop.
That way when I need them, I just have to pony up for a mounting charge.

I've used Dunlops almost exclusively on the last two bikes I've owned. Wear and traction have always been more than acceptable for me so I like them for the most part. I imagine I'll stick with them on on the Harley too.
Having said that, I've had front tire cupping develop on almost all the front tires I've had. What I've found through the years is that maintaining proper air pressures have much more to do with how fast the cupping starts than anything else. I seriously doubt that using the front brake is a significant factor. If it is, I'm going to have cupping issues because I "will" use the front brake! We need to be totally **** about tire pressures. Run these tires 2 to 3 psi low for a couple hundred miles and the cupping will start. Once it does start, the games over. It'll continue to develop even after the pressures are brought back up where they should be.
The only negative I've found after the cupping is there is a bit of tire noise when leaned over in a turn. It's no big deal for me. I'm not generally an aggressive rider so it may be more of an issue for those that are.
