service manual - HD or Haynes???

I disagree with everyone here on the Clymer manuals. You should buy the HD SM & PM first but I strongly recommend buying the Clymer manual for the electrical diagram section. It is the best hands down & much better than HD. I am using one right now for reference on a complete FXR rewire job.
THe money you invest on tools pay you back in many ways including time savings or ease of job.
I own all of the later (evo & 2Cam) "Bagger" manuals as well as a few PM (Parts Manuals), and the elecrical manuals. Go model/year specific. I also lease Part Smart so my parts manuals are now redundent. The Clymer manuals also have their place & I buy them also.

Off brands service manuals
Yes- the off brand service manuals- are all wrong-man. they have ya screwing bolts in backwards- and using mud for lubricants and literaly trashing your HD. I think it is a plot by the metric manufactures to gain market share.
I can't figure out how they keep selling em. ???

I learned a long time ago that Haynes, Chilton, Clymer and Auto manuals were a BIG waste of money as they would routinely tell you how to get you into trouble but not how to get you out of it! I have been buying factory service manuals for all my rides (and cages) for the last 15 years. If you plan to do ANY wrenching on your bike you will need to get the H-D manual no question about it.
