Default 2008 factory radio bad

My 2008 flhtc radio failed yesterday. I took it into the dealer today and they said they will have to send it out for repairs. They said this takes about 2 weeks.
Question when did Hartley stop doing exchanges? My buddies 2006 has had 8 radios replaced and never once did he have to ride without a radio in is fairing. I am going to have a big hole in my fairing for 2 weeks.
Good thing it never rains in California.

So far I've been lucky with mine....no problems to report. My guess is they will send the radio to HK for repairs>

I have had a problem with my audio cutting off intermittently. Left it at the dealer for a week and they could not reproduce the problem. Finally got it to happen when I could get it back to the dealer. Tech looked at it and verified the failure. They are ordering me another radio which are backordered 2-3 weeks.

I think alot of dealers are now sending their bad radios to Ironcross Audio for repairs. FWIW, mine was swapped out just today, HD still does the exchanges.

My handle bar volume kinda sucks... when i push volume up it doesn't go up unless I really push it hard but it goes down no problem with a light touch. I've learned to deal with it. I have noticed that if I have a cd in the radio and I turn my bike off and then back on the fm won't work unless I cycle thru the choices (AM FM ect) and select the fm. but with no cd in the player it works fine every time. Oh well. I'm pretty sure my dealer does exchanges on the spot.

My 08 radio has been fine to date. Knock wood. Would really s--k to ride around with no radio for two weeks; especially for my northern bagger brothers and sisters who are just starting their summer riding season. I mostly listen to my Sat Radio anyway.

sorta surprised that they didn't swap you out for a new one. hope you get it resolved. it'd be interesting to find out how many radios fail with the hundreds of thousands of harleys they're used in.

Harley still does exchanges. Problem is, Harman went and outsourced their repair and refurb facility. When an outside source is doing your work, how concerned are they with your products and customers? There are just not enough units in the system to get an exchange unit in a timely manner. If it's a warranty issue, I guess your stuck. If it's an out of warranty unit check out Iron Cross Audio. Much faster and cheaper.
