Default Seat question?

A friend of mine has an 04 RK Classic. He does OK for about an hour and a half and then his back starts hurting. What aftermarket seats do you guys recommend? He would like to stay with HD and likes the look of the sundowner seat or the comfort stitch seat.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Back rest with a good sundowner seat. The back rest is the key!

100thrk is right, the sundowner seat is comfortable. A backrest is a good addition, gives you better posture. He also might want to consider different handlebars. Bringing your shoulders back takes a lot off the lower back.

Sundowner with backrest here too. All day comfort at a reasonable price.

The wife & I did 315 miles Saturday with the Sundowner with backrest. Couldn't ask for more comfort.

Mustang with a backrest, or Corbin Dual tour with a backrest...I have had both and both are excellent. I know they cost more, but you get what you pay for...Just my .02

Ive got the mustang with the backrest for my 03 Heritage. Its the only one I could find that replicated the original but with a drivers backrest. Is there any other company's like Sundowner that makes the replica seat of the Heritage with a backrest?
The Mustang seat is hard as far as Im concearned.

Factory RK bars are notorious for causing back pain, especially right between the shoulders. Have him insure that his bars are right before investing in the expense of a new seat.

Bar fit proceedure:

Hold the bike up for him while he sits on it in his normal riding position, with his feet on the pegs. With his eyes closed he places his hands in his lap and waits about 30 to 45 seconds. Then with eyes still closed, reach up for the bars. Where ever his hands end up, that is his normal riding postion and the one that will give the most comfort. Adjust the bars to that position. If they will not get there, get bars that will.

Most people find that Heritage bars will get you there, as will factory touring 2" pullbacks.

If it is a seat issue, I would go with a Corbin. They are the most comfortable seat I have ever ridden.

Regards,

Bill
