Melted plastic on pipes

Melted plastic on pipes
A black plastic bag hit one of my hot mufflers and has left a black residue on the chrome. I've tried using the following to clean it but to no avail: various chrome cleaners, Goof-Off, turpentine, paint thinner, acetone. All have been applied with a clean sponge. I even tried a heat gun to try and soften the plastic but that was a no-go. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Purple Slice will take it off. Saw a demo at a bike show. Heat the pipe up, spray, wipe with cotton cloth. Will not harm paint.

I just had an entire bag melt to the inside of one of my Rineharts. I can tell you that the steps I mention below should be followed or you risk paint damage if you use oven or brake cleaner.
Steps:
1. Take off side bag
2. Take off slip-on muffler
3. Apply easy-off oven cleaner (yellow can) in a WELL ventilated area that is no where near anything painted!
4. Wait over night and apply easy-off again without wiping
5. Wipe off melted plastic with relative ease using a cotton cloth then throw the cloth away
6. If step 5 seems too hard apply another coat of the not so easy-off and repeat Step 5
7. See step 6.
I had to apply two nights in a row and the plastic came off with ease.
*** And I can't stress to you enough ***
WARNING: DO NOT SPRAY THE CLEANER ANYWHERE NEAR ANYTHING PAINTED!!!
