i have a black FLHTCI and give it a wash about once a month. also i wipe it down either after i ride or go over it before i ride. i got myself use to doing this mainly because i am a clean freak but also by going over my bike i started noticing items that came loose or even may be in need of repair. so by being a compulsive, i feel that i am a much safer biker and ride with my mine at ease knowing that the bike is in top running condition when i ride. Oh yea, just thought you might like to know that in my opinion RAIN X is a very good product to use. wax, detailer, and wash been using these for years. i have used other products in the past or when something new comes out but find myself going back to RAIN X. be safe, ride safe
I like it clean! If we're on a road trip, it gets cleaned that night before the cover goes on. I let the wife hit the shower while I grab a bucket of water for the bike and we're both done about the same time. No big deal.
I suppose I'm obsessed with keeping mine spotless also, but to me It's part of the fun of owning it. And YES, it does get ridden, many weekends 300-500 miles. I usually do my cleaning on a weekday eve. Great time to sip a cold one and make the chrome shine!
I do the same thing. It is a relaxing thing to do after a BS day at work.
Same here. I like peace and quite, although I do put some tunes on. I use this time to relax some evenings. I shut the garage door, turn the tunes up and unwind with polish and a rag.
I too started out keeping the Hog extremely clean. But as we all know, HOGS will get dirty! I do like a clean bike so I keep it clean but don't wash and clean only when it demands it!
Ask my wife this question...she would say obsessed! I ride alot and am constantly cleaning the windshield and fairing. I normally use S-100 when it gets pretty dirty and wash it all the way about once a month or two. If I'm bored and can't get outside I'll wax some portion of it. My dad always said that he had 1 son that never washed anything, and the other one that washed the paint off of everything. I'll let you decide which one I fall under!
I'm a serial cleaner too. The black bike demands it. That and the whitewalls (which I love). My wife's blue Sportster hasn't been actually washed yet, it's right at 1000 miles, and it looks fine. Pisses me off.
Usually a quick wash down after a long ride out or it has been raining. I give it a more detailed wash and polish every two or three weeks. I hate the look of a dirty bike.
