Whatza 17" solar shield look like?
UPS delivered the 17" Memphis Shades HD replacement shield in the "solar" tint today.
Thicker than stock, about 2" shorter, nice bronze-ish / smoke tint. Looks better than the clear did with the smoked lenses and gray striping. Seems clearer too.
Instructions had me put the brackets on the bike, then assemble the shield. Actually works out better than laying it out on a table, because you're mounting the plastic to the frame as it's attached to the bike. The holes are oversized just enough that you have play to line everything up, so when you're done, it slips on and off better than stock. I used to have to bend things around a little to get them to line up with the mount grommets, but not now. $80 well spent.
Took about 30 mins to swap the plastic, then hit the highway. No buffeting problems at 70 or better. Top of the shield hits me about chin high (5'-10"). We'll see where the first juicy bug hits me since I'm not looking over the top lip of the shield any more.
Pic??? You bet...
