I have an 07 Heritage Softail that is doing something similar. The revs just die when I slow down for a junction and pull in the clutch. No codes or anything to help diagnose the problem and it is intermittent. Looking through this forum for answers ...

My 07 Road King would die, usually at the worst possible time. It would start back up if i cycled the kill switch first. There were no codes. I finally suspected the "run-stop" (kill) switch and replaced it. It was the problem. Hope this helps.

It took four visits to get my cruise control fixed due to a bad pin in the main harness.

I honestly don't think you're going to find it by tugging on wires. I think it's probably a switch itself, a sensor or ECM, etc. Trust me, I know electrical problems suck.....just went through it.

He's took it to his dealer and they couldn't find a problem. He'll be taking it back for the second time later this week.

I know that these bikes no longer have a circuit breaker. Earlier bikes did but it's now replaced with a maxi-fuse. We've checked the obvious such as battery connections, kill switch, and ignition switch and everything seems fine.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

BTW, any constructive suggestions will be appreciated. A certified HD mechanic will be looking at AGAIN later this week. I just thought someone here might have had the same problem so we can steer the mechanic in the right direction.

Thanks,

Steve
My .02 Steve ~ is that the fuel line can collapse inside itself w/ no evidence to the exterior appearance. I would be scooting along and then baaaah the bike dies. I would reach down (after I figured this problem out of course) and move the petcock at the tank and weeerooom fires right back up and were off. Fuel starvation can act like an electrical problem when it is completely cut off. I hope that is a help. I bought a fuel line and problem is no more. (kinda like Micheal Jackson gone~OK now there was no need for me to write that)

My friend's bike is in the shop. I'll keep everyone posted on what they find if anything.

Bad thing is, he has a big trip down WA and OR coast 101 coming up in a couple weeks. Hope they get it fixed before he leaves. Definitely a safety issue on that highway!

I'm having a similar problem on my an 07 Road King. Sometime it does it and sometimes it doesn't but when I slow down and pull in the clutch to make a turn into like a driveway it will die. It starts right back up and idles up fine. So far it's running fine going at highway speed.

hope you guys get it figured out. that has to sorta suck to not be able to depend on such a new bike. heck, it'd be a drag on an older bike too. good luck with it.
