578's you can pull back quite a ways if you need to. I left mine more upright and the grips were still back to me farther than stock. Right now without riding it yet they feel great and my hands are right even with the top of the fairing
Which bike do you have? If a +2 cable will work for me then thats what I will go with, no need to have more than whats needed.

Alot of great info in here. But after measuring everything up, I'm still up in the air between 16-18" now.

Are the grips far enough back and comfortable?

I spoke with a Wild 1's tech who suggested that the Mini 10" apes may not come back far enough so now I'm confused as I need them up and back vs stock.

I know on my SG the mini 10" Apes (WO578) are closer to me than the stock bars and they are pretty much pushed all the way forward. They could easily be pulled towards me quite a ways yet

The 12.5'' bars seem very comfortable. I have to admit, I have not had a chance to ride my bike yet because it is still winter here in WI with lots of salt and sand on the road. Last year, it was 80 degrees already. I had an 09 Road King with Wild One 8.5'' baby apes, they were too short. I would get pain between my shoulders. I would not go shorter than 12.5''. For reference, I am 5' 11''.

I'm going to 12.5's too. The 16's have started to make my shoulder numb on long rides. I'm 6', 33" sleeve, 32" inseam.
