Well, I wish you have posted this a couple of weeks ago. I just finished putting new WO502s on my RK and ended up taking the exhaust off to put on the new clutch cable. It would have been much quicker to just cut down an allen wrench as you suggest. But, then you would not be able to use a torque wrench when putting it back together... unless you remove the exhaust. So, I guess if you're an experienced mechanic, you could feel your way through without having to use a torque wrench. But, in retrospect, taking the exhause off wasn't really that big a deal. As someone else suggested, make sure you replace the exhaust gaskets!

I put the Wild 1 576 14" Baggers on my 09 Ultra. The stock bars were to low for me to be comfortable on long rides. The 14's put the grips a couple of inches below shoulder height. My shoulders dont tighten up on long rides now.

Badcat, I'm thinking of going with the 576's also. What are your measurements, if I may ask?

I also have the 576's and love them. Great pullback angle. Ride is very comfortable.

I would be one of those folks you might have worked on. I wrecked my Sportster last year which required a partial right shoulder replacement, (right side upper humerus replaced), and am still in PT once per week. I didn't give up riding however, and have a shiny new 2012 RK.

My shoulder always hurts now and I have come to terms that it will continue to do so for several more months. However, because of my shoulder issues, apes are completely out of the question. We did a 700 mile trip last week. After about 150-175 miles on one leg, my upper middle back began killing me. I know that new bars will alleviate this problem and am considering the WO 508 or 518. In particular, I am 6', inseam 34" and judging from the pix in this thread, the 518 looks very close to what will fix my issues.

What are folks here paying the dealer to have these installed?

I installed Wild 1 Chubby Mini Apes (WO515 I believe), the original wiring reached but had to install a +3" on the clutch cable. I also did black braided brake lines.

My local HD dealer just quoted me $1600+ parts & labor to install a set of WO518 bars. When he said that I was thinking, "WTF!?!". I am now shopping around for a better price.

Anyone know where I can get this done in South Orange County, California at a decent price and not void any warranties?

G'day fellas. I have. 2011 FLHR that i currently have the HD RK Fat Bar in use. I am looking at putting on the 14' WO Apes or the 12.5's. If i go the 12.5's will I need to change by cables?

I am 6'5" and definitely want to go the apes due to the added pull back. Just very unsure of the height to choose.

Any advice would be appreciated.
