I suppose a good way to judge if taller bars would work for you is where do you normally place your hands on the steering wheel when you drive. If they're normally at the top, you might do better with taller bars. If you normally drive with your hands at the bottom of the wheel, maybe you'd better stick with lower bars.

503's look to be closer to a drag bar, too close for me for my shoulders; I love the 517's, rode it to work last night and so much easier on me than the 518's even as they were comfortable. I feel so much more in control with the 517's, less stretched on cornering and in tight spots.
Thanks, Mike

I've got some WO576 14" Blackout bars on my 2007 FLHX. I've got a tallboy seat on there and the grips are right had shoulder height. I'm about 71.5" tall. I've also got the Hogtunes tweeter bar installed on the inner fairing and that prevents me from pushing the handlebars forward about 1-2 inches. I've got a long reach and I could stand to push the bars up a bit, but they are perfect for leaning back on the backrest and cruising on the highway.

As far as the wrist angle goes, the first few weeks it was a little awkward, but I've gotten used to them now and really enjoy them. I was originally going to spring for some black 13" cyclesmith bars, but the shop who put em on recommended the Wild Ones since the internal wiring hole was much wider for threading that needle. The cyclesmiths opening sometimes has to be ground with a dremel to open up the hole, and then you run into the possibility of chaffing the wire with the idle shake on the touring bikes.
