Typically a dealer want to make 3K on your trade. That just how it works. They have lots of overhead to pay in buildings and staffs trying to sell your trades.

The NADA value doesn't mean ****, frankly. The dealers go off the 'black book' value, and you'll never get added value from aftermarket stuff.

You gotta be willing to haggle with these guys, and shop around. I like my local dealership, but their sales manager seems to want to do everything but make sales! They make an offer, and I counter-offer, but they say "nope, that's the best we can do," which is pretty stupid. Leaves the customer nowhere to go but out the door. There's another dealer a few hours down the road that made me a great offer on trade, dropped all the fees, and threw in a $500 gift card.

It's a long drive, but it was $1500 better than my local guys would do. I'll do a day-long drive for $1500.

Well, Kelly blue book for your Fatboy is 11,355 (FI model) and the EG is 12,875. Seems to me that he was offering you above blue book for both. You may have not liked the numbers he gave you, but they were a lot more than most dealers would give you.

I would try different dealers to see if someone will offer you a better deal. Remember you also save the sales tax on the money they are giving you for your bikes when you trade them in you only pay tax on the difference..thats about another 1k dollars.

What ever you've added to you bikes is worthless. Get over it. Life sucks, move on.

Are you pissed that he is willing to negotiate? You expect to automatically receive your price? You should at least listen to what he may offer, don't take it personal.

When you figure what "you" think the bikes are worth do not add for any extras you may have put on, they are not worth anything when it comes time to trade. KBB is the most useless book out there so forget what anyone says about that. Some dealers will use NADA when they sell to you but KBB when you want to tarde because KBB is lower and unrealistic. If you can get them to go $1500 each under NADA you're doing well, otherwise better off trying to sell private.

Hey Riteway.
Your right I was there last week and they had lots of bikes, I also heard Chicago Harley is going 2000 below invoice on 09 ultras, I guess they have a floor full of them.

Is that $2000 below invoice or below MSRP?
