Just adjust the cable. I have almost 4000 on mine and have had to do it a couple of times already.

I can't adjust the cable any more. I'm assuming I need to either turn out the adjuster screw at the jam nut either more or less to get the 'clutch zone' where I want it but not having any luck...

....well I just re-adjusted at the clutch adjuster nut. I turned it out only 1/2 of a turn and it's "better". It seems to be more in the "half way point" from the bar now.

What would make the clutch not be able to adjust like I want?

I could always adjust my Sporty's clutch exactly where I wanted but this bike seems to be different...

Same issue here. Had it adjusted before the 1000 and at the 1000 (both at H-D)... now at 2700 it is sloppy again.

Can it be adjusted right at the lever?

It's cable stretch. Adjust it on the cable. It may take several times. There is not an adjustment at the lever.

If I don't tighten mine down to where it almost touches the perch, it rattles like crazy. I have to keep it tighter than recommended.
There is an anti-rattle clip, plastic half moon thing that is attached to the clutch lever inside the perch. You need to replace that to stop your rattle then adjust the cable to the proper spec.

Makes a difference on mine if its hot or cold adjustment. A lot more play when hot
